Located in Karachi, the Karachi American School offers an independent, coeducational program from nursery through grade 12 for students of all nationalities in an affordable fee structure. It was founded in 1952. During the school year, there are two semesters spanning August 9 to December 22 and January 11 to May 30. To avoid space limitations, prospective students should apply well before arriving in Karachi.

Organization

The Karachi American Society, the School’s sponsor, elects a 7-member Board of Directors for 1-year terms. Upon enrolling a child in the School, parents or guardians automatically become members of Society. Pakistan’s Societies Registration Act governs the registration of societies. There is no incorporated school in the United States, but it is tax-exempt.

Facilities

The School is located on approximately 10 acres of land in a modern building. In addition to elementary and secondary school libraries, science and language laboratories, two computer labs, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and an athletic field, the School is well equipped.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on independent colleges in the United States. A total of 13 subjects are offered as Advanced Placement courses. Special needs students are not offered a program at the School. ITBS, PSAT/NMSQT, AP, SAT I, and SAT II is part of the School’s testing program. English is the medium of instruction. We offer modern language instruction in French, Spanish, and Urdu.

Through grade 8, English as a Second Language is offered to non-native English speakers. In addition to the National Honor Society, there is also a National Junior Honor Society. Religion is not taught. Almost every graduate goes to the best colleges or universities in Karachi, the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom. The members of NESA, AAIE, NAIS, and SAISA are the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
