The Quran’s 36th Surah (chapter) is Surah Yasin, also written as Ya-Sin and Yaseen. It is called a Makki surah, because it was revealed in Mecca, and has only 83 verses, making it the 36th surah of the Quran. “There is a heart in everything; the heart of the Qur’an is Surah Yaseen.” [1 Tirmidhi (Hadith: 2887]

According to the Hadith, we must recite a Quran:

“Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Surah Yasin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.”

“Whoever recites Surah Yaseen at night seeking Allah’s approval, Allah would forgive him.”

Benefits of Surah Yaseen

Forgiveness

A major benefit of reciting Surah Yaseen is the forgiveness of sins. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

“Whoever recited Surah Yaseen at the night seeking Allah’s approval, Allah would forgive him.” (Ibn Hibban, Darimi 3283/A, Abu Yala, Tabarani, Baihaqi & Mardawaih)

This hadith states that reciting Surah Yaseen before bed will ensure we wake up without sin. Islam forbids us to commit sin in any way; therefore, Allah gives us an opportunity in Surah Yaseen to be forgiven of our sins.

Easiness While Dying

The reality of death can be a painful and challenging one. The Surah Yaseen eases the pain of death for people. Dying people need to be comfortable to move on peacefully after death.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, 

“Recite Yaseen on those who are dying.” (Dawud)

Fulfilling Your Worldly Needs

Remembering Allah and reciting the Holy Quran in this world and the next is beneficial. Those who recite Surah Yaseen receive Allah’s blessings in return.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was reported saying,

“Whoever reads Surah Yaseen at the beginning of the day, all his needs for that day would be fulfilled.”

Reciting Surah Yaseen also helps us spiritually fight diseases. It is essential to live a healthy life, and remembering Allah can protect us from diseases that harm us. The Surah Yaseen soothes the hearts of people suffering from health issues.

Intercession after Death

We will be questioned about our lives after death. Surah would intercede for those who read it at that time.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

 “Indeed in the Noble Quran there is a Surah, for its reading will intercede and will be a means of forgiveness for listener. Listen carefully, it is Surah Yaseen, in the Torah it is called Muimmah.” 

The Surah can intercede not just for the reciter but also for the listener.

In another hadith of Surah Yaseen virtues, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

 “It contains for its reader the benefits of this world, it removes from him the dread of the next life, and it is called Dafiah and Qadhiyah.” 

According to these hadiths, Surah Yaseen is important in this life and the afterlife.

Surah Yaseen speaks about the day of judgment, so it will also be helpful to its readers on that day. On the day of judgment, all of us will need Allah’s assistance. On the Day of Judgment, Surah Yaseen will help its readers gain special benefits from Allah.

A hadith regarding the day of judgment goes as follows:

 “A person who recites and memorizes Surah Yaseen will be in the shadow of Allah’s Blessings.”
