Dua Before Sleep In Arabic
،بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي
،وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ
،فَإِن أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فارْحَمْهَا
،وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا
بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Dua Before Sleeping In English Translation:
“With Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name, I rise, so if You should take my soul then have mercy upon it, and if You should return my soul then protect it in the manner You do so with Your righteous servants.”
We recited this dua before sleeping to ask Allah for protection from Jahannam, which is why this dua has also been termed du’a ul nawm or du’a al-nueim. It’s a beautiful Dua that affirms the belief we Muslims have about life that only Allah can give us life, and he can also take it away when He Wills it. In this Dua, you tell Allah that if He takes your Nawayt (energy), he should hold you in high regard because you’re a believing Muslim.

English Translation:
“O Allah, verily You have created my soul, and You shall take its life, to You belongs its life and death. If You should keep my soul alive, then protect it, and if You should take its life, then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You to grant me good health.”
This is a beautiful prayer reminding us of one simple fact: we have been created by ALLAH. ALLAH is the kindest and most merciful who, if he so desires, will take us back to himself after this short life on earth has ended.
