Those whore are involved in black magic and shirk, who are addicted to liquor, or continue to engage in usury and zina are exempt; He will not forgive them until they repent.”
To have fast on the next day after the night of Shab e barat is also advised. The Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) commanded Hazrat Ali (R.A):
“When the middle night of Shaban arrives, spend it in worship and fast during the day. On this night, at sunset, Allah descends to the nearest heaven and announces: ‘Is there no one asking forgiveness that I may forgive him? Is there no one asking provision that I may grant him provision? Is there no one afflicted that I may relieve them? Is there not such and such?’ (He keeps announcing) till the dawn comes.”

What to do on the night of Shab e Barat?
Shab e barat has verified the forgiveness of sins from Allah, as well as the ability to correct our former course if it was incorrect. These prayers, however, are optional.
