Muslims disagree about the significance of the 15th night of Shabaan. Some people observe the night with special prayers and fasting the next day, while others believe that this is not Sunnah.

Scholars regard the hadiths related to the 15th Shabaan as sound (Sahih), good (Hassan), and weak (Dha’if). Scholars regard the goodness of this night as authentic since there are several hadith and their weaknesses are not significant.

Importance of Shab e barat:

The greatest gift of this night is that from Maghrib to Fajr, Allah (swt) pours forth His kindness and forgiveness on the world. In several narrations, the Prophet (saw) indicated the scope of this pardon, including the one below:

′On the fifteenth night of Sha’ban, Allah gazes at His creation and forgives all His slaves, save for two sorts of people: those who assign partners to Allah and those who harbour animosity toward their fellow Muslims.’

More groups of people who would not be pardoned were stated by the Prophet (saw) in different narrations, including those who terminated familial relations and those who defied their parents, among others.

The Prophet (saw) also told Aisha (ra)that ′Allah descends on the night of the middle of Sha’ban to the lowest sky, and He forgives more than the number of hairs on the sheep of Banu Kalb (an Arab clan famed for their large flocks of sheep)’. (According to Ibn Majah and others)

How can one keep himself or herself away from such blessings if this is the genuine condition of God’s blessing? This hadith demonstrates that Our Almighty God desires to bestow his blessings onto us, yet we are frequently the victims of untruthfulness.

There is one more reference from a hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated that Allah will forgive all the all Muslims on the 15th night of Shaban, but the mushrik and the spiteful would never be disregarded.

It is human to make mistakes, but it is divine to forgive. As humans, we make millions of mistakes, some of which are intentional. Our all-powerful God, on the other hand, desires to make us sin-free. This night is a blessing which Allah has bestowed upon ummat e Muslima.

Blessings of Shab e Barat

Shab e barat is fully packed with a lot of  benefits and is ordained to deliverance from fire of jahannum as well as forgiveness. The blessings of Allah’s worship on this hallowed night shall be clarified by this Hadith.

The hadith clarifies the Fazilat of Shab e Barat, stating that Allah has stated that three hundred gates of paradise are opened for people who believe in one God on each laylat-ul Barat.

According to Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A), Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said: “On the night of mid-Shabaan, Hazrat Jibrael appeared and said: “O Prophet of Allah, head heavenwards!” “What night is this?” I inquired. “This is the night when Allah Almighty opens three hundred gates of compassion for those who do not make anything His partner,” he said. Those whore are involved in black magic and shirk, who are addicted to liquor, or continue to engage in usury and zina are exempt; He will not forgive them until they repent.”

To have fast on the next day after the night of Shab e barat is also advised. The Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) commanded Hazrat Ali (R.A):

“When the middle night of Shaban arrives, spend it in worship and fast during the day. On this night, at sunset, Allah descends to the nearest heaven and announces: ‘Is there no one asking forgiveness that I may forgive him? Is there no one asking provision that I may grant him provision? Is there no one afflicted that I may relieve them? Is there not such and such?’ (He keeps announcing) till the dawn comes.”

This is the night when your fate is sealed. So, instead of wasting the night of blessings in sleeping, ensure your salvation by cleaning your heart and promising God that you would never pursue the evil road.

What to do on the night of Shab e Barat?

Shab e barat has verified the forgiveness of sins from Allah, as well as the ability to correct our former course if it was incorrect. These prayers, however, are optional. It is up to the individual whether he or she choose to give prayer or sleep this night. But who is to say that no one may prevent himself or herself from receiving the reward? It is also unnecessary to spend the entire night in Tilwah and prayers. Before the night arrives, we may create a schedule and do whatever we like.

On this special night, you can complete the following tasks.

  • Offer Salah/ Nawafil

The practice of Shab e barat Nawafil is the best approach to accomplish God’s will. There is no set amount of Rakah, and it is also not obligatory to spend the entire night in Salah. Similarly, more Qayam, Rakho, and Sajdah should be included in these Salah Rakats than normal. It’s also a good idea to read the full Surah in these Salah Rakahs. Making the timetable ahead of time is much better.

  • Recitation of Quran

Recitation is ranked second and is considered one of the remarkable tasks for obtaining Allah’s will. The sacred Quran’s recitation is not required for the entire night. It should be prepared in accordance with the timetable. The recitation of Quran cannot be accomplished in this night’s limited time. We can recite some Surahs at night, such as Surah Yaseen, Surah Rahman, and Chaharam Qul. These Sorah can also be recited many times. It’s also not required.

  • Pray and seek Forgiveness

“Dua is the mind of all prayers,” according to the reliable Hadith. This Hadith demonstrates the significance of Dua. Praying on shab e barat is also good. The manner of prayer is described in several Islamic literatures. It assists us in being forgiven of our sins and brings us closer to Our Almighty God. Dua must be accepted in the presence of God Almighty if it is offered according to the laws and regulations.

Prophet Muhammad SAW, according to the Hadith Qudsi, stated, “Allah says he feels humiliation if a person provides due and I reverse it without taking.”

  • Reciting Darood e Pak

Reciting Darood e Pak is another thing through which Muslims can get reward from Allah. You can recite darood e Pak at any time and in any quantity, even either in sitting, standing or lying position. It is the best and easy way to please Allah by sending darood to His Prophet (PBUH).

Sending darood to our beloved Prophet (PBUH) enlightens the soul, body and face of the reader. It can be included in the schedule.

Bottom Line

The night of 15 Shabaan is very important religious festival for Muslims. On this blessed day, Muslims all across the world typically exchange sweets with one another. Even in some nations, it is celebrated by the firing of firecrackers, despite the fact that this is a consequence of local traditions and has no religious meaning. To ask forgiveness, Muslims do specific prayers and worship their god. Mulsim softens and becomes more obedient to their Almighty.  The importance of Shab e barat is discussed in this article to make people more aware of this night of forgiveness.
