Surah Ad-Duha

There are eleven verses in Surah Ad-Duha, the ninety-third chapter of the thirty Juz. According to it, it is a remnant of the earlier period of Prophethood in Mecca. Ad-Duha is named after the first Ayah of the Surah, “Ad-Duha,” which means “the brightest morning.”. Surah Ad-Duha is a Makhi Surah in quran.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Ad-Duha

Here are the benefits of reciting surah Ad Duha.

Among Allah’s Favorite Person

Anyone who recites Surah Ad-Duha will be among those whom Allah likes. As Shaykh Tabarsi narrated that:

He who recites Surah Ad-Duha will be among those whom Allah (Glory be to Him and the Highest) likes, and he may be interceded for by the Prophet (God bless him and his family), and he will be rewarded ten times for each orphan, needy, or petitioner (that he helps). (Majma al-Bayan 10/503)

Helps to find Missing Object

Surah Ad Duha Helps to find the missing object. As Molana Ashraf Ali Thanvi writes

Recite Surat Ad-Dhuha 7 times to find a lost object, or recite it once and repeat verse 7 thrice the time to find the object. The lost item will be found, In’Sha Allah. (Remedies from the Quran p105-106)

Reward on the Day of Judgment

Surah Ad Duha helps the reciter on the Day of Judgment. According to Shaykh Sadook narrates Imam as-Sadiq said:

On the Day of Judgement, anyone who recites Surah Shams, Surah Lail, Surah Duha, and Surah Inshirah in one day or night will be held accountable for his recitation. (Sawabul Aamal p168)

Protect the Missing Object

When a reader recites surah Ad Duha for any missing person or object Allah keeps it Safe until you find it. As according to Sayyid Mustafa Musawi writes:

When Surah Ad-Duha is recited with the name of a missing person, he will return home safely. When you forget something somewhere by mistake, Surah Ad-Duha keeps it safe until you find it again. (Fawaid-e-Quran)

For Istikhara

Surah Duha is a fabulous istakhara according to the following wazaif:

Recite Surah Ad-Duha 21 times after Isha daily for seven days to learn the outcome of a work (Istikhara). (Majmooa Wazaif p175)

Protects from Fear and Nightmares

Surah Duha protects the person from nightmares and any kind of fear and this is also a surah for peace of mind.

The Revelation of Surah Ad Duha

People started to talk and say that God had forsaken the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) after a few days without revelation. The Prophet was pleased when the Prophet received the revelation of Surah Duha as a result of their words.

Surah Ad Duha Translation

  • By the morning sunlight,
  • And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,
  • Your Lord [O Prophet] has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful [of you].
  • And the next life is certainly far better for you than this one.
  • And your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.
  • Did He not find you as an orphan and then shelter you?
  • And He found you lost and guided [you],
  • And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
  • So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
  • And as for the beggar, do not repel [him].
  • And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.

Hadith on Ad-Duha

It was narrated that Jabir RA said:

“Muadh RA stood up and prayed Isha’, and made it lengthy. The Prophet SAW said: ‘Do you want to cause hardship to the people, O Mu’adh; do you want to cause hardship to the people O Mu’adh? Why didn’t you recite ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High (Surah 87)’ or Ad-Duha (Surah 93) or; ‘When the heaven is cleft asunder (Surah 82)?”
