Surah Al-Asr 

Al-Asr name of this Surah derived from its first verse. There is one ruku and three verses in it. In the Holy Quran, it is the 103rd Surah. It contains fourteen words and sixty-eight letters. The majority of scholars believe Surah Asr was revealed in Makkah and is called Makki surah in quran.

 For Forgiveness

Recite surah Al-Asr for the forgiveness of sins. so when you are reciting quran or praying salah then must recite this surah every time for ALLAH forgiveness. According to a hadith:

 “Whoever recites surah asr, Allah Almighty will forgive him.”

Recitwr will be Reward Judgment Day

If you want a shiny face and joyful features on judgment day, recite Surah Asr. According to Imam Sadiq said;

“He who recites surah asr, in his optional prayers, Allah will raise him with a shining, bright face, cheerful features, and delighted eyes, until when he enters Paradise on the Day of Judgement.” Al-Islam (Majma’-al-Bayan)

Virtues of Surah Al-Asr

At-Tabarani recorded

From `Abdullah bin Hisn Abi Madinah that he said, “Whenever two men from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah used to meet, they would not part until one of them had recited Surat Al-`Asr in its entirety to the other, and one of them had given the greetings of peace to the other. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Ash-Shafi’i said,

“If the people were to ponder this Surah, it would be sufficient for them.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Abu Madinah reported:

Whenever two men among the companions of the Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, would meet, they would not part until one of them recited to the other, “By the time, surely mankind is in loss” (103:1), and the other would bid him farewell with peace. (al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ 5120)

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful

  • Time is witness that, surely, mankind suffering from loss
  • Except for those who have faith
  • Who do good, become a model of truthful living & practice patience together.

Surah Al-Asr Overall Theme

According to the surah, all humans are at a loss, except those who do righteous deeds, reminding others of Haqq (truth, rights, and reality) and Sabr (patience). However, Allah exempted those who obtained these four traits or qualities.

  • Having a strong sense of faith.

  • Advising one another to follow the truth.
